fNIRS – Getting Started

fNIRS – Getting Started

The projects in this section aim to help researchers new to the field of fNIRS or coming from other neuroimaging techniques such as EEG or tES to get started with their first fNIRS study.

The fNIRS Glossary Project

The fNIRS Glossary Project is intended to develop a community-sourced glossary of terms relating to functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) including the paradigms of continuous-wave (CW), frequency domain (FD) and time domain (TD) NIRS and related symbols via a consensus-based methodology.

A Hitchhiker’s Guide to fNIRS

The Hitchhiker’s guide to functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is intended to provide a practical step-by-step guide for fNIRS data standardisation, preprocessing and analysis for block-design paradigms using both block average and the general linear model (GLM).

Open fNIRS
Preregistration

The Open fNIRS – Preregistration project gives an overview of key design aspects and specification recommendations for comprehensive fNIRS study planning. As such it can be used as a template to preregister fNIRS studies or as a tool for transparent fNIRS study design.
